There has been much whispered about the presence of oil below the Haynesville Shale in recent months, but very little has been confirmed by producers. Rumors center around the Smackover formation in both Louisiana ("Brown Dense") and Texas and the Norphlet in Texas. The Norphlet was discussed briefly in a GMX Resources conference call in March 2011.
