Fracking Disclosure Comes to Louisiana

The Louisiana DNR issued a statement today that the Office of Conservation has enacted a new rule "requiring oil and gas operators to obtain a work permit and disclose the types of fluids used in the hydraulic fracturing process of wells in Louisiana."  Disclosure of the quantities and composition of the fluids would be done after the fact and be submitted to the Office of Conservation or a public registry like fracfocus.org.

The rule is not a surprise, having gone through a public comment phase, and it doesn't differ materially from similar rules in Texas and Arkansas.
