U.S. Rig Count: +18 to 1,836

For the second straight week, the Baker Hughes rig count showed an 18 rig increase, bringing the number of working rigs in the U.S. to 1,836. Of that total, 934 are oil rigs (+8), 890 are gas rigs (+8) and ten are classified as miscellaneous (+2).  This week, there were 15 more horizontal rigs working (1,038), six more directional rigs (225) and three fewer vertical rigs (573).

In the Haynesville Shale region, inclusive of other formations, the rig count increased by four to 164, increasing by three in east Texas (54) and one in north Louisiana (110).
