U.S. Rig Count: +28 to 1,800

The weekly Baker Hughes rig count showed a 28 rig increase in the U.S., bringing the count to 1,800.  Oil rigs increased by 33 to 913, leaping ahead of the gas rig count (878), which dropped by seven.  The miscellaneous rig count held at nine.  By type, horizontal rigs were up 17 (1,020), vertical rigs were up 15 (567) and directional rigs were down four (213).

In the Haynesville Shale region, inclusive of other formations, the rig count was down one to 161.  North Louisiana held at 110, while east Texas was down one to 51.
