U.S. Rig Count: +18 to 1,818

The weekly Baker Hughes rig count showed an 18 rig increase, bringing the number of working rigs to 1,818.  Oil rigs increased by 13 to 926, gas rigs increased by four to 882 and miscellaneous rigs increased by one to 10.  By type, vertical rigs were up nine, directional rigs were up six and horizontal rigs were up three.  Horizontal rigs still represent 56.3% of all working rigs in the U.S.

In the Haynesville Shale region, inclusive of other formations, the count was down one to 160 with a one rig decrease in north Louisiana to 160, while east Texas held at 51.

I'll be off the reservation this afternoon, so look for the detailed Haynesville Shale rig count late tonight or, more likely, tomorrow.  (After a quick perusal of the updated rig list, there likely aren't too many changes.)
