New EIA Global Shale Report

A couple of days ago, the EIA released a report it sponsored that attempts to quantify worldwide shale gas resources.  Here is a blurb about the project, the executive summary and a link to the 365 page report.

The report only covered 32 countries (noted in white, above), and while it may be hard to draw conclusions from a report with a limited scope (but that is still very ambitious), one thing is clear: shale gas will be part of the worldwide energy equation in the coming decades.  The techniques and technologies developed in the U.S. by independent producers will have a global impact.  That's pretty exciting.
