Another Smackover Data Point

The SONRIS web site was down when I posted a comment Friday night about the potential for the Smackover formation that lies below the Haynesville Shale in parts of North Louisiana (and southern Arkansas), so I wasn't able to pull the specifics on the well that was recently completed.  Here they are:

  • Jones O'Brien, Inc. #1-ALT, XTO Energy:  177 BOPD, 0.587 MMcf/day IP on 19/64 in. choke at 2,800 psi, 3361:1 gas-oil ratio; North Red Rock Shongaloo Field, Webster Parish, S11/T23/R9; res. SMK C RB, serial #241685

Note that this well had a 128 foot perforation, from 11,208' to 11,334'.  I see that XTO permitted another Smackover well in S3/T23/R9 called Mary Belle Sale #2-ALT, serial #242043 back in September 2010.  I'm working on getting a copy of the Jefferies analyst report cited in the post.

I did a quick map illustrating these two data points (darker blue is the completed well).  Note that they are both well north of the boundaries of the Haynesville Shale.
