Texas Rig Count

The Texas Haynesville rig count showed some strong movement this week, jumping 10%, from 40 to 44.  Haynesville/Bossier targets represent 59% of the rigs operating in East Texas right now.  It is interesting to note that Newfield is showing its first Haynesville activity this year and Berry Oil is back after a one month hiatus.

Regionally, the strongest growth has been in Shelby Co., which has the most operating rigs at 15, a figure that has nearly doubled since late January.  Panola Co., with seven rigs, is also showing lots of activity, leapfrogging both San Augustine and Nacogdoches this week.

I'll work on the Louisiana count this weekend.
