Rig Count

The Baker Hughes U.S. weekly rig count showed an increase of four working rigs this week, all of which were drilling for oil.  There was no change in the number of gas rigs (748).  In terms of rig type, there were eight new horizontal rigs, but three fewer vertical rigs and one less directional rig.

In the Haynesville region of east Texas and north Louisiana, which includes other formations, the rig count dropped by one to 167.  There was one new rig in N. LA and two fewer rigs in E. TX.  The north Louisiana rig count of 116 represents 15.5% of all gas rigs working in the U.S.
