More on NAT GAS Act

Here is a good article on H.R. 1835, the NAT GAS Act, which promotes the use natural gas for the transportation industry. The passage of this bill would be huge for the natural gas industry. (Full text of bill.) If this does move towards approval it is likely to change, but it is a good start.

I was interested to see the list of bill co-sponsors. I'm disappointed that no Congressmen from Louisiana or east Texas helped sponsor a bill that will so significantly help an industry in their state. (Note: the closest sponsor was Rep. Michael Burgess (R) from north Texas - somewhere between the Barnett and Woodford Shales.) The Haynesville Shale should be a significant economic driver, especially for Louisiana, and our politicians should act accordingly.

considering most of the lawmakers from LA and TX do not support Obama nor are they Democratsm it is not surprising that have not supported this bill. They do not belive in supporting anything that the Republics have not presented if even if it will be good fro their state. They care about their party first, not their constituency.
I suggest concerned voters sepak up and make the lawmakers represent their wishes.

True that most elected officials in LA and TX are Republicans. At least the NAT GAS legislation did have some a Repub co-sponsors. T. Boone Pickens has given enough money over the years to Repubs that they should darn well take notice of his agenda. It would be a shame for partisan politics to get in the way of progress both for our states and our nation.
